How to start
Brampton Therapy for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
The courage it takes individuals to begin the process of Therapy for childhood sexual abuse, having survived CSA to step out of isolation is enormous. After years, sometimes decades of carrying the weight of your abuse, alone and in silence, asking for help can feel daunting. Reaching out for support is brave and vulnerable at the same time; and I believe you and am here to help.
The pain, doubts and confusion of CSA survivors can feel almost impossible to bear. The ongoing effects of PTSD or CPTSD can keep survivors suffering their whole lives. The isolation enforced by your abuser and/or family/ support system creates an invisible jail, that seems impossible to leave.
And the confusion from the secret, silence, minimization or dismissal of your abuse creates an almost dizzying effect of self-doubt that follows you through life. This was never your responsibility nor your fault.
You were a child, this was wrong, you did NOT cause your abuse nor did you deserve it.
Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse often struggle a lifetime without help
Mental & Physical Health
Survivors of childhood sexual abuse often experience a range of mental and physical health challenges. This can include difficulties with sleep, such as insomnia or nightmares, chronic or unexplained illnesses, and struggles with mood or anxiety disorders. Some may also develop personality disorders or experience ongoing challenges with emotional regulation, making everyday life feel overwhelming or unpredictable.
Thoughts & Self-Perception
Childhood trauma often affects how survivors think about themselves and the world. Common experiences include low self-esteem, feeling inherently flawed, intrusive flashbacks, self-blame, or misplaced blame on others. There may also be a lack of self-empathy, and in some cases, suicidal thoughts emerge as a reflection of deep psychological pain.
Boundaries
Healthy boundaries can be difficult to establish after abuse. Survivors may experience extremes; either overly rigid or overly loose boundaries. They may feel a constant need to control situations or, conversely, feel powerless. They might compromise personal values to avoid conflict, struggle to identify their own needs and feelings, or find it hard to ask for help without over-sharing or holding back.
Relationships & Trust
Childhood sexual abuse can deeply impact the ability to connect with others. Survivors may feel isolated, struggle to form or maintain relationships, or fear intimacy. Some may either become overly attached or avoid closeness entirely, and trusting themselves or others can feel unsafe, creating barriers to meaningful connections.
Emotions
Emotional life after abuse can be intense and complex. Survivors may feel persistent shame, guilt, fear, or anxiety, alongside sadness, grief, anger, and hopelessness. They may remain constantly on guard or feel disconnected from their emotions or experience them in overwhelming bursts; making it challenging to process feelings in a balanced way.
Behavioral Patterns
Survivors may develop self-destructive or self-sabotaging behaviors as coping mechanisms. This can include substance abuse, self-harm, suicidal attempts, restrictive or binge eating, or engaging in sexualized behavior prematurely or for others’ approval. These behaviors often reflect the deep impact of trauma and the ongoing search for safety, control, or connection.

My Approach
My approach to therapy for childhood sexual abuse is through a lens of trauma-informed counselling that is mindful, somatic-focused, attachment based, with an inner child focus.
From a peer support stance, my unique approach comes from being a CSA survivor myself; It informs how I show up in my life and my work. Every single treatment plan is customized based on presenting needs and client goals; this is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
There is hope for no longer feeling trapped in the trauma of CSA.

What to expect when receiving Therapy for Childhood Sexual Abuse in Brampton or Online.
What happens during the free connection call for those searching for Therapy for Childhood Sexual Abuse?
We connect and have a chat; it's an opportunity to ask me any questions that you might have. It's also a moment to see if you feel safe and supported enough to consider sharing your story. For some of my clients, this is the first time that they even acknowledge their abuse to another person.
What does a therapy session for CSA look like?
My sessions are self-paced, meaning I work with what you need in the moment. There is no rushing, forcing, insisting or demanding. It is a safe space to explore the lingering effects of horrific moment(s) in your life. The sessions are still grounded within a clinic framework with the goal of helping you through the CSA finger prints left behind.
Does receiving therapy session for CSA mean that I need to report my abuser to authorities?
Absolutely NOT. Our work together is to support you, your choices and goals on your healing journey. The decision to report is a very personal one. I will never pressure you to do anything you are not comfortable with.
I do have experience in supporting clients through the reporting process, but that is a decision that only you make; and as your therapist I would support you either way.
How long does Therapy for Childhood Sexual Assault take?
Therapy is not a linear process; there is not a set path you walk when in counselling. Each CSA survivor has a unique story and a unique treatment plan to support their healing journey. My recommended session times for CSA therapy is between 60-90 minutes per session. You can select that at the time of booking.
Does insurance cover this?
This is still considered a therapy session. Your receipt can be submitted to many extended health providers.
I am also a Sunlife approver vendor that can offer direct billing.
How does therapy for childhood sexual abuse feel like?
It can feel a little scary, especially if this is the first time you are ever speaking about these events in your life. Through prioritizing feelings of your safety and creating a welcoming and judgement free environment, our therapeutic relationship evolves through our continued work together. No two sessions feel alike.
Do you currently offer a support group for CSA?
